Program Information:
Intern in London offers an 8-week summer internship in England's fascinating capital. Participate in London's work life through an internship that complements your academic concentration and unique personal goals! The program combines work and professional development with cultural excursions: each week, you will intern for 20 hours and be involved in seminars, lectures, and excursions for another 20 hours.

Here are some things to expect while on this unique program:
  • Hands-on, custom internship in London – With a vast range of fields to choose from, you’ll find the perfect internship for your skills and interests and get the skills you need to enter the global marketplace.
  • On-site support – Helpful, knowledgeable staff are there when you need them—for airport pickup, orientation, group field trips, and more. But you’ll have all the freedom you need to enjoy your internship and explore your new home.
  • ?Fun excursions – Cultural excursions and field trips include visits to parks, theaters, and museums. Whether with the group or independently, get off the beaten track and see the real British culture in London!
Internship Placements:
The following are fields in which previous interns have been placed, but this list does not determine the availability of a placement in any particular field nor does it guarantee placements in any of these fields for any particular applicant:

  • Art History/Events Management – galleries, museums, art and cultural centers (administrative and research functions), music and entertainment venues
  • Business – accounting, economics, finance (banks and brokerage firms), international business, management consulting and marketing
  • Communications/Media – advertising, film and photography, journalism (print and broadcast), public relations, radio news and production, video production (for film and television)
  • Education – elementary and secondary schools, early childhood, special needs
  • Fashion – leading fashion houses (administrative or PR functions), companies specializing in design and textile application, fashion-related magazines
  • Government and Politics – political parties, members of parliament, lobby and pressure groups, government-sponsored agencies, think tanks, political journalism
  • Health Care/Services – medical services (administration associated with hospitals and health authorities), medical and science institutes (research), health-related charities
  • History – archival research, English university research projects, historical journals and genealogical publications, institutes specializing in historical research, museums and galleries
  • IT/Computing – electronic and desktop publishing, graphic design (for magazines and advertising companies), banks and financial institutes, telecom networks
  • Law – barristers’ and solicitors’ firms, criminology-related institutes (research), judicial institutions (magistrates and crown courts), legal aid facilities, parliamentary legal affairs committees
  • Psychology and Social Services – hospitals and health authorities (psychiatric units); mental health charities; nonprofit and voluntary organizations providing assistance to children, women, the aged; youth drop-in centers
  • Sports Management – leisure centers, sports teams (English cricket, football, and rugby), university student-union sports facilities, sports-related museums
  • Theater – centers for performing arts, dance studios (musical theater), fringe and mainstream theaters, theater companies, theater- or literary-related museums (research and presentations)
  • Travel and Tourism – hotels and catering, leisure and travel companies, London-based national and international rail services, public and private tourism, hospitality organizations

Application Requirements and Deadlines: 
Applicants must have at least a sophomore standing. 

Applicants to this program have 2 applications to complete: Valpo and CISabroad
  • The Valpo deadline to apply to Summer 2018 programs is March 1st, 2018. Click the Apply Now button at the top right of this page to begin the Valpo application. 
  • The CISabroad deadline to apply is February 15th, 2018. Click here to start the CISabroad application.
Cost Information: 
Please refer to the budget sheet above. Internships are unpaid. 

If needed, students are able to work with financial aid to help with the cost of the program. Scholarships are also available. 

Out-of-pocket Expenses
Students will be responsible for purchasing their own airfare. Flights will be discussed at length during orientation. 

The estimate for spending money will vary greatly depending on personal spending habits. Personal expenses include personal items, additional personal travel, meals, shopping, and other activities. Students should consider their individual spending habits when estimating their personal expenses for the program.
