Program Description:

Program Overview

Study at an honors college in a beautiful, historic city in the heart of Europe. Christ College has recently formed this partnership with University College Utrecht (UCU), a liberal arts honors college in The Netherlands. Christ College students will be able to study at a prestigious European university with students from across Europe, and the globe, in a small, honors college setting. The entire campus is English-speaking, and many of the inhabitants of The Netherlands speak English as well.

UCU has several residential locks divided into shared living units. Students are assigned to units to create a mix of genders and nationalities. The majority of bedrooms are individual, though students may opt for a limited number of shared bedrooms. UCU is a catered residence, so students eat in the communal dining hall which serves lunch and dinner, though each unit also has a kitchenette fitted with basic cooking appliances. Units all have a communal social area, and the bathrooms are fitted with showers, toilets, and wash basins.

Students are also encouraged to participate in a wide array of activity both on and off campus, organized by student-led special interest committees and teams, and student organizations. The campus also contains lots of open, green space or outside leisure and studying.

Academics

Christ College students will be able to choose from a wide variety of courses, all taught in English, which can fulfill Christ College, general education, and/or major and minor requirements, with careful planning.

Please view their course outlines website for courses offered. Please note that the upcoming semester is likely not available until closer to the program starts, however you can use previous courses offered as a guide for what courses are likely to be offered in the future.

Dates

The Spring semester begins on January 22, 2018 and ends on May 15, 2018 with a break from March 12-18. There is an intro week beginning on January 15, 2018.

Application Requirements and Deadlines

Applicants must have been selected by Christ College to participate in this exchange program. The deadline to complete the Study Abroad application for Spring of 2018 will be March 1st. Decision information will be shred with the applicants via their Valpo e-mail shortly after the deadline.

Click the "Apply Now" button at the top of the page to begin an application.

Cost Information

Please refer to the budget sheet above.

Students pay the same tuition and general fee they would pay at Valpo. All financial aid (except work-study and some 'on-campus' aid) applies. Be sure to meet with your Financial Aid Advisor to determine the exact cost. These will be posted to Student Accounts as any fees would be for a normal semester at Valpo. Students pay their room and board directly to Utrecht.

Christ College will be covering the cost of round-trip airfare to Europe, as well as a $1,000 travel stipend to selected students for Spring 2018.
